PATRICIA'S STORY
Hello, my name is Patricia, I live in rural WV,Gilmer County; the closest town is Glenville, which is 10 miles away up and down the hills. My major medical problems are many,but here goes;I have cataracts in both eyes, and it has been three years since an exam, the state will not pay anymore for exam and never has paid for eyeglasses! I suffer with severe COPD,Asthma, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica, Arthritis throughout my body, Diabetic Neuropathy in my left side,Carpal tunnel ,both arms, trigger finger problems, brought on by the Diabetes,Panic Anxiety, and Chronic Depression. I am sure there are some I forget,list is like I am a broken down old bag of bones! I have three beautiful grandchildren and a son and daughter in law living in Ohio,and have not seen them in a very long time. My heart breaks when the children ask " Nana, when can we see you?" I can barely walk at times, have trouble sitting for long periods of time,high heat and humidity I cannot breathe in, and extreme cold weather I cannot be in. I have had many horrors in my life, way too long to go into; short story is that I survived a very abusive ex husband, raised my child on my own for years, then met my current husband, who has been my blessing. He has difficulty with his back,as do I,and is barely able to move at times, but typical man, will not go to a doctor,. He is unemployed,and truly unable to work. I have been on SSI of $606.60 a month for over four years now,have not had a car for over five years;I just want some of my independence back and a way to get to and from where I need to be and see my grandchildren more often. The winters here can be brutal, and impossible to drive in,when there is snow! I have two herniated discs, one in my neck, one in my back, and three fusions,two in the back, and one in left hip.Bone spurs floating in my back, you name it! YIKES! I am a survivor of four rapes in my life, one being my ex-husband! My mother passed when I was but four ,and my father when I was 24. Do I feel I need a car? Most definitely! Am I the most deserving? Only the Lord knows that! I can say that my son is always telling me I need to worry about myself more and take care of myself more,but I can not change who I am. I have always given of myself, and I have been blessed many times over for that! Thank you Jesus! Yes, I pray my dreams will come true, and my needs will be granted. My wants are immaterial! I have been here for awhile now, and have to say, that God has blessed me with so many wonderful,caring,loving people that are my friends. He has truly gifted me in that department. My Sister in Christ, Sarah, my dearest friends, Candice,Barb, Milodeke, Tinker, Papi and the list goes on and on, everyone of those on my friends list is just as important to me as the next! I love each and everyone of them, and would do whatever I can for them. My home is open, my heart is filled with love,and I am here for anyone who needs me! I will do my best to do my Lord Jesus will, and continue what he has given me to do. I thank all those who have helped me and continue to help me on my way to my dream, with their many votes and transfers. I would not have made it this far without them.
